When ACORN founder Wayne Rathke found out that the FBI had foiled a plot to murder delegates to the 2008 Republican convention, he was disappointed that the plot had been foiled by an informant.
On his blog, Rathke wrote that it’s “one thing to disagree, but it’s a whole different thing to rat on folks.”
Yeah, Wade, a real bummer that some gusano had to infiltrate the plot and inform the FBI. But if you really want that tenured professorship at the University of Illinois, you can’t just be sympathetic to domestic terrorism. You’ve got to have some skin in the game, baby!

America is in Afghanistan to protect AMERICAN civilians, not Afghan ones. Wars should be won, with overwhelming and devastating force. And civilians that do not flee the battlefield, and provide aid and support to the enemy, will be killed with the enemy. That is war, and it’s not pretty.
The United States can worry about the civilians, AFTER complete surrender of the enemy. Until that occurs, keep killing people. That’s what we did in Germany. That’s what we did in Japan. And we have pretty good relations with those countries now. How many wars have ended in Victory for the U.S. since we decided that it’s a bad idea to devastate or enemies?…

GANJGAL, Afghanistan — We walked into a trap, a killing zone of relentless gunfire and rocket barrages from Afghan insurgents hidden in the mountainsides and in a fortress-like village where women and children were replenishing their ammunition.
“We will do to you what we did to the Russians,” the insurgent’s leader boasted over the radio, referring to the failure of Soviet troops to capture Ganjgal during the 1979-89 Soviet occupation.
Dashing from boulder to boulder, diving into trenches and ducking behind stone walls as the insurgents maneuvered to outflank us, we waited more than an hour for U.S. helicopters to arrive, despite earlier assurances that air cover would be five minutes away.
U.S. commanders, citing new rules to avoid civilian casualties, rejected repeated calls to unleash artillery rounds at attackers dug into the slopes and tree lines — despite being told repeatedly that they weren’t near the village.
The Marines were cut down as they sought cover in a trench at the base of the village’s first layer cake-style stone house. Much of their ammunition was gone. One Marine was bending over a second, tending his wounds, when both were killed, said Marine Cpl. Dakota Meyer, 21, of Greensburg, Ky., who retrieved their bodies.

Everyone knows that President Obama has surrounded himself with a league of unelected Czars.
Not so well known is the fact that these hidden, unaccountable bureaucrats are creating an immense set of regulations that could cost each American family thousands of dollars annually.
While cap-and-trade energy tax bills appear stalled in Congress, a shadow carbon tax regime is secretly emerging in the closed confines of the EPA.
But it is not the EPA director levying these massive new taxes; it is instead Obama’s “White House Climate Czar”, Carol Browner.
Browner has a checkered past. Even before the bizarre 2007 Supreme Court case that ruled the EPA had the authority to mandate 18,000 pages of greenhouse gas regulations, Clinton EPA Director Carol Browner had argued that the EPA could claim outrageous powers over the American people.
Mary Nichols, head of California’s Air Resources Board, has confirmed that Browner led White House efforts to establish new auto emissions standards. For the first time, these standards drew their power from the EPA’s supposed authority to regulate greenhouse gases under the 1970 Clean Air Act. Nichols stated that Browner did so in secret: “We put nothing in writing, ever.”
Left to her own devices, Browner will soon graduate from vehicles to the EPA’s entire 18,000-page blueprint for the whole U.S. economy. Everything that moves will come under the dictates of Browner’s EPA bible: trucks, buses, planes, trains, ships, RVs, lawn mowers, and every other vehicle you can imagine.
Browner’s EPA also intends to regulate many commercial buildings. Restaurants, schools and hospitals — buildings that have commercial kitchens with gas burners — will fall under the purview of Browner’s regulations.
American taxpayers should be outraged. Not only are unelected EPA bureaucrats acting unilaterally, without Congressional approval, but the EPA itself is not being led by its duly confirmed administrator — Lisa Jackson. Instead it is being directed by Carol Browner, the White House Climate Czar with a troubling history.
Why would Obama make Browner a “Czar”? So her powers could be made even more sweeping than through an an appointment — and so she could avoid the accompanying Senate confirmation process. This confirmation would have been highly uncomfortable for Browner, because as recently as January she was one of 14 members of the “Socialist International Commission for a Sustainable World Society.”
Browner’s “Commission” openly seeks a “socialist world order of global governance”. Because of her bizarre actions, she would have faced major opposition in a Senate confirmation vote.

There is a reason Michigan is crumbling toward Third World economic status: the state has been run into the ground by the same sort of fanatically pro-union authoritarian liberals that now control the federal government. In the latest outrage, a woman could face jail time for volunteering to watch her neighbors’ kids, apparently because this is seen by the authorities as a threat to the unionization of babysitters.
A West Michigan woman says the state is threatening her with fines and possibly jail time for babysitting her neighbors’ children.
Lisa Snyder of Middleville says her neighborhood school bus stop is right in front of her home. It arrives after her neighbors need to be at work, so she watches three of their children for 15-40 minutes until the bus comes.
The Department of Human Services received a complaint that Snyder was operating an illegal child care home. DHS contacted Snyder and told her to get licensed, stop watching her neighbors’ kids, or face the consequences.
“It’s ridiculous.” says Snyder. “We are friends helping friends!” She added that she accepts no money for babysitting. …
A DHS spokesperson would not comment on the specifics of the case but says they have no choice but to comply with state law, which is designed to protect Michigan children.
If the boot heel being ground into your face isn’t designed to save the polar bears, then it must be to protect the children.
Ms. Snyder could have saved herself some grief by succumbing to a union before agreeing to do any favors for her neighbors. When Comrade Obama rams through card check as promised, the entire country will share Michigan’s dismal fate.

Hosam Maher Husein Smadi was arrested Thursday after he parked a vehicle laden with government-supplied fake explosives in the underground parking garage of Fountain Place, a 60-story tower in the 1400 block of Ross Avenue at North Field Street, authorities said.
An Illinois man was ordered held on Thursday on charges he tried to blow up a federal building in the state capital, a case unrelated to the New York terrorism plot.
Michael Finton, also known as Talib Islam, was arrested in Springfield, Illinois, and charged with attempted murder of federal officers or employees and trying to use a weapon of mass destruction, charges that carry a life sentence.
Two men charged in North Carolina last month with plotting terrorist attacks overseas also planned to attack the U.S. Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, authorities said on Thursday.
The two were among seven suspects arrested in August for conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and for conspiracy to murder, kidnap, maim and injure people overseas.
A new indictment unveiled on Thursday charged Daniel Patrick Boyd, the group’s alleged ringleader, and Hysen Sherifi “with conspiring to murder U.S. military personnel” in connection with the planned assault on the Marine Corps base, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Raleigh said in a statement.
Twice in the past two days, SEPTA officials have alerted police to men taking pictures on the Broad Street subway line in South Philadelphia.
On Wednesday, a SEPTA cashier told officers about a man taking pictures at the Lombard-South station, but the man, after being questioned by the cashier about his activities, left before officers arrived.
“We are attempting to identify that male to determine what the nature or the reason for taking the photographs was,” Chief Inspector Joseph Sullivan said.
Najibullah Zazi, the Denver man believed to be the central figure in a terror plot against the New York City transit system, has officially been indicted on charges of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction against persons or property in the United States, CBS 2 has learned.
Zazi was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday in Denver on a count of lying to terrorism investigators. The new charge of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction was filed in New York City, and authorities plan to transfer him to the federal court in Brooklyn to face the new charges.
Zazi has publicly denied making any terrorist plots. Counterterrorist agents fear he and others may have been planning to detonate homemade bombs on New York City commuter trains. Zazi’s father, 53-year-old Mohammed Zazi, and the Queens Imam Ahmad Afzali were also charged with lying to investigators in the case.
Given that Comrade Obama has gone out of his way to cripple our anti-terror defenses for the sake of his sanctimonious posturing, it’s only a matter of time until one of these plots succeeds. I doubt it will pull his approval ratings out of their tailspin.
