US, India: We’ve got proof that Pakistan’s spy agency was involved in Mumbai jihad
Big Surprise. Atlas has a photo of the Heckler & Koch MP5’s that the terrorists used. Not the run of the mill weapon for Jihadists. H&K is a weapon of choice for security and intelligence forces around the world.
From Jihad Watch:
“Sources also refuse to believe that the Pakistani army did not have knowledge of the Mumbai operation given that ISI is controlled by it.” It has gotten very hot in here all of a sudden.
“US, India: We’ve proof of ISI role in Mumbai attacks,” from ExpressIndia, December 4 (thanks to Mackie):
New Delhi: India has proof that ISI was involved in planning the Mumbai terror attacks and training the terrorists who killed 183 people during a 60-hour siege of the country’s financial capital, sources said. The names of trainers and the places where meticulous training took place are also known to the government, the sources said.
The United States is believed to have even more evidence some of which it has shared with India, they said.
Chairman of US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen, who was in Pakistan on Wednesday, is believed to have told his Pakistani interlocutors that Washington had enough evidence to show a Pakistani hand in the attack, the sources said.
Sources also refuse to believe that the Pakistani army did not have knowledge of the Mumbai operation given that ISI is controlled by it.
At the same time, sources do not believe that the civilian government in Pakistan is involved in the attack. In fact, one view is that the civilian government itself may be a target of the strike which may be used by the army to heighten tensions with India to return to power.
Washington has asked Pakistan to crackdown on Lashkar-e-Toiba, which now goes under the name of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, and to arrest its chief Hafeez Mohd Saeed because it has evidence of their involvement in the attack, the sources said.
The attack was planned, equipped and organised in Pakistan where the terrorists were trained and provided logistical support.
Contrary to the version that the terrorists used a hijacked Indian fishing boat to reach Mumbai after sailing from Karachi, the view is that much more sophisticated means were used.
The sources spoke of a clear disconnect between the Pakistani civilian government and the all-powerful military establishment, which is causing difficulties for India in dealing with the situation….
We can all rest easy, knowing that India and Pakistan have nukes and enough Mulims to make their use a real possibility. Merry Christmas.
Also From Jihad Watch, over 2,000 Muslims take to the streets. Protesting the Indian accusations of Pakistan’s involvement. Really…. I just think they love to march. For any reason….
JackAss in bedazzled glasses, Chopra: US is to blame for Mumbai terror attacks
From WSJ:
In his CNN interview, he was no less clear. What happened in Mumbai, he told the interviewer, was a product of the U.S. war on terrorism, that “our policies, our foreign policies” had alienated the Muslim population, that we had “gone after the wrong people” and inflamed moderates. And “that inflammation then gets organized and appears as this disaster in Bombay.”
All this was a bit too much, evidently, for CNN interviewer Jonathan Mann, who interrupted to note that there were other things going on — matters like the ongoing bitter Pakistan-India struggle over Kashmir — which had caused so much terror and so much violence. “That’s not Washington’s fault,” he pointed out.
Given an argument, the guest, ever a conciliator, agreed: The Mumbai catastrophe was not Washington’s fault, it was everybody’s fault. Which didn’t prevent Dr. Chopra from returning soon to his central theme — the grave offense posed to Muslims by the United States’ war on terror, a point accompanied by consistent emphatic reminders that Muslims are the world’s fastest growing population — 25% of the globe’s inhabitants — and that the U.S. had better heed that fact. In Dr. Chopra’s moral universe, numbers are apparently central. It’s tempting to imagine his view of offenses against a much smaller sliver of the world’s inhabitants — not so offensive, perhaps?
Two subsequent interviews with Larry King brought much of the same — a litany of suggestions about the role the U.S. had played in fueling assaults by Muslim terrorists, reminders of the numbers of Muslims in the world and their grievances. A faithful adherent of the root-causes theory of crime — mass murder, in the case at hand — Dr. Chopra pointed out, quite unnecessarily, that most of the terrorism in the world came from Muslims. It was mandatory, then, to address their grievances — “humiliation,” “poverty,” “lack of education.” The U.S., he recommended, should undertake a Marshall Plan for Muslims.
It’s good to know that CNN managed to land Chopra, in between enemas, to lend his razor sharp, world renouned terrorism expertise. Next time someone draws a goofy cartoon of Mohammad, and the Arab world takes to the streets, CNN has Richard Simmons on standby for the commentary and analysis.
GO INDIA. Somali Pirate “mother ship” sent to the bottom
Nice to know that someone has their thinking hats on. Nonlethal force was not authorized…
The INS Tabar opened fire on a pirate “mother ship” after it came under attack, a government statement said.
[...]
The Indian navy said the Tabar spotted a pirate vessel while patrolling 285 nautical miles south-west of Salalah in Oman, on Tuesday evening.
When the Indian ship asked the vessel to stop for investigation, “the vessel’s threatening response was that she would blow up the naval warship if it closed on her”, the statement said.
“Pirates were seen roaming on the upper deck of the [pirate] vessel with guns and rocket propelled grenade launchers. The vessel continued its threatening calls and subsequently fired on INS Tabar,” it added.
The Indian warship retaliated and opened fire on the pirate vessel, leading to fire breaking out in the vessel, the statement continued.
“Fire broke out on the vessel and explosions were heard, possibly due to exploding ammunition that was stored in the vessel.”
Two speedboats accompanying the pirate vessel were also seen escaping during the attack.
The navy said the warship chased the first boat which was later found abandoned, while the second boat escaped.
The Tabar has been patrolling the Gulf of Aden since early this month, and has escorted 35 ships safely during the “pirate-infested waters”, the statement said. [...]
